Ben, Janine, and Aviendha

On December 11, I had the priviledge of following up my maternity session with Janine and Ben with some winter family portraits…with their adorable little addition, Aviendha. What an expressive little lady! :)

Downboy!

I was lucky enough to get a (well-deserved) break from studying/assignments to bring my camera out for a night on the town. We don’t seem to do enough of that anymore. So off we went on the streetcar, amongst the Toronto crazies. Destination? The Blue Moon Pub, to catch the live set of Downboy, a bitchin band out of Hamilton. They absolutely stole the show – there’s an obvious comraderie and dynamic between the members that only comes from having a ton of experience playing together. The original music was great, but I’m a sucker for covers, so when they busted out “Ring of Fire”, I was a very happy little shutterbug.

You can check their music out here, and if you get the chance, definitely see them live!

My Decade of Mobile Technology, part five: Panasonic A102 (Yes, finally.)

My Zoolander phone…

I tried and tried to find some way to use this phone in North America. Forget men…it will be, always and forever, my European romance. The time we spent together was short, but it will be cherished. *tear*

Shown in Granite and Black, but mine was Metallic Red

Panasonic A102

GSM 900/1800/1900
77 x 44 x 17.8mm, 66g
Display: Monochrome, 112 x 64px

Memory: Phonebook: 250 entries

Battery: Li-Ion, 300h standby, 8h talk

Features: Polyphonic ringtones; Ringtone creator; Calendar; Alarms; To-do/Tasks; Currency converter; Calculator; One of the smallest GSM phones ever created!

My little candybar phone was my go-to for keeping up with all of my go-sees, castings, and jobs in Milan. It was on a pay-as-you-go basis with Vodafone, and my first experience with non-North American providers. Something awesome altogether about Euro providers…this was back in 2005 and I only had to pay for outgoing calls. Incoming calls and text messaging were totally free, baby!

To be honest, there is nothing incredible about this phone, other than it’s obvious size (or lack thereof). I have it stashed away with the rest of the model stuff I can’t bear to throw away, and I get a happy little feeling when I come across it. So I’m nostalgic…I’m at peace with that.

Fantasy vs Reality – Movia Nightbus

This incredible interactive advertisement for Danish transit company Movia was introduced to my History of Advertising class in week one. Still makes me smile/cringe. Anybody had a night like this?

Click on the link, you’ll be glad you did!

Partners in Prevention 2011

One of my Hellberg Product photos

I just returned from the Partners in Prevention safety trade show in Toronto last night.  As usual, I was representing my family’s company, Hellberg Safety Canada.  It was so much busier than last year!

We met some excellent people and I had a lot of fun working with my brother, who just started selling with the company a year ago now.  Usually it was just my Dad and I, so the extra help was fantastic!

The company has some new developments in the works (hush hush!) with some amazing potential. I’m really excited about the the upcoming products…oh yeah, and photographing them, of course!
